TTI Story

In January 2000, JD Choi and Biren Patel started Tax Technologies, Inc. (TTI) from JD’s cold basement in New Jersey. At that time, there was nothing but a dream of building a global tax management software, two computers, and two cell phones, but no clients, no software to license and no capital funding. From that time, TTI has grown to have six offices in the U.S. and India; over 200 employees; and more than 2,000 users logging in from around the world to use its software. TTI has achieved all that growth organically from the revenue it earned by simply working hard. It has proven that a dream can come true through hard work and dedication to core principles of client-focused service.

TTI succeeded in an oligopolic business of high-end corporate tax software and continues to succeed through innovations and its focus on providing excellent solutions to its clients. Even before SaaS became popular, TTI built Tax Series as a Web-native application to provide SaaS solutions to large corporations. It has succeeded in providing SaaS solutions to corporate tax departments. Tax Series is accessed from every country around the world.  Now we can say “sun never sets in TTI user territory.”

President and Chief Executive Officer - JD Choi

JD is an international tax expert and demonstrates extraordinary client-focus. Prior to forming TTI, JD worked as an international tax consultant for over 14 years with three of Big Four accounting firms.

JD provides the vision for Tax Series, a cutting edge corporate tax management software. He envisioned that global tax management can be significantly enhanced by changing technical platform to the Internet. Over the last 10 years, Tax Series has proven that it is possible. Tax Technologies, Inc, now has clients with over 1,000 users globally using Tax Series on quarterly basis for data collection, compliance reporting, and provision reporting. In addition, TTI clients use global tax calendar management and global legal entity management within a single database, furthering the efficiency to the extent never imagined possible. He continues to actively participate in product development and client services.

JD graduated from the University of Texas and New York Law School. He is a member of the Texas State CPA, AICPA, ABA, and New York and New Jersey Bar associations.

Vice President and Chief Information Officer - Biren Patel

Biren is an international tax authority with an excellent ability to develop custom applications to help clients. He is well-versed in both international tax compliance and software development issues. Prior to forming TTI with JD, Biren worked with JD at both Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen LLP.

Biren has been instrumental in building service business. He manages both U.S. and overseas based service teams while serving as TTI’s client service leader. Also, thanks to his contribution, TTI established an India based development and service center. India operations contributed significantly to the success of TTI.

Biren graduated with honors from Clemson University with a Masters degree in Business Administration.
